Why did the golfer go to therapy?
Because he couldn’t stop driving himself crazy!

Story: Driving Himself Crazy

Dave loved golf, but golf didn’t always love him back. He was a decent player on a good day, but his biggest struggle was his driver. No matter how much he practiced, every time he hit the driver, the ball seemed to have a mind of its own—hooking left, slicing right, or sometimes dribbling just a few yards in front of him.

One particularly rough Saturday, Dave decided to play a solo round to “clear his mind.” After all, golf was supposed to be relaxing, right?

The Trouble Begins

On the first hole, Dave teed up confidently. He took a deep breath, focused on the fairway, and let it rip. WHACK! The ball shot straight… for about 30 yards before veering hard into the trees.

“Okay,” he muttered, trying to stay calm. “It’s just the first hole.”

He hit a provisional ball… same result. Trees again.

By the fourth hole, Dave was gripping his driver so tightly it looked like he was trying to strangle it. After another wild drive into the bushes, he shouted, “Why do I even play this game?! It’s supposed to be fun!”

A passing squirrel seemed unimpressed by his outburst.

The Breaking Point

By the time Dave reached the ninth hole, his patience was gone. After another frustrating slice into the water, he snapped. He threw his driver on the ground and yelled, “I’m done! You hear me? DONE!”

A group of golfers on the next tee stared in silence. Dave sheepishly picked up his driver and muttered, “I mean… done with this shot.

Seeking Help

That night, still fuming from his round, Dave’s wife suggested, “Maybe you should see someone about your golf frustration.”

“You mean a swing coach?” Dave asked.

“No… a therapist,” she replied.

At first, Dave laughed it off. But after thinking about how much the game stressed him out, he decided to give it a try.

Therapy Sessions

During his first session, the therapist asked, “What brings you here?”

Dave sighed. “Golf. It’s driving me crazy.”

The therapist nodded. “Let’s start with something simple. How do you feel when you hit a bad shot?”

“Like smashing my driver into tiny pieces.”

“And when you hit a good shot?”

“Like I’m the king of the world!”

The therapist smiled. “It sounds like golf is less about the game and more about how you handle setbacks.”

Breakthrough on the Course

With a new mindset, Dave returned to the course the following weekend. On the first hole, he hit a terrible drive… straight into the water. But instead of losing his temper, he took a deep breath.

“Okay,” he said calmly. “That was not ideal… but at least the fish enjoyed it.”

His friends stared in disbelief. “Who are you, and what did you do with Dave?”

Dave just smiled. “I’m a work in progress.”

From that day on, golf still drove Dave crazy—but only in the best way. And every time he hit a wild shot, he’d laugh and say, “Therapist-approved!”
