Story: The Lucky Pants
It was the biggest day of the year at Riverbend Golf Club—the Annual Charity Golf Classic. Players from all over the town gathered, dressed in their sharpest golf gear, ready to impress both on the course and at the after-party.
Among them was Tom, a mid-handicap golfer known for being overly prepared. He had a bag stuffed with extra golf balls, tees, gloves—and, strangely enough, an extra pair of pants.
“Tom, why do you always bring extra pants?” his friend Mark asked, shaking his head as they loaded their golf cart.
Tom smirked. “In case I get a hole in one.”
Mark groaned. “You’ve never even come close!”
The tournament began, and Tom was playing decently—some good drives, a few questionable putts, and a couple of bogeys. Nothing spectacular, but solid enough.
By the time they reached the 14th hole, a challenging par-3 over water, the group was feeling the pressure. It was the tournament’s famous “Hole-in-One Challenge,” with a shiny new sports car displayed by the green as the grand prize.
Tom pulled out his trusty 7-iron and walked up to the tee box, determined to at least make it onto the green. As he lined up his shot, Mark called out from the cart, “Hey Tom! Don’t forget about those extra pants!”
The group burst into laughter, and even Tom couldn’t help but chuckle. “Well,” he said, “time to prove I need them!”
He steadied himself, took a deep breath, and swung. The ball soared through the air, high and straight. It landed on the green, took a couple of bounces, and… plunk! It disappeared right into the hole.
The group went silent for a split second before erupting into cheers. Tom stood frozen, mouth open, unable to believe what had just happened.
“You… you actually did it!” Mark shouted, practically jumping out of the cart.
Tom finally snapped out of his shock and raised his arms triumphantly. “Looks like I really needed those extra pants after all!”
Later that evening, as Tom posed next to his brand-new car with the tournament trophy in hand, someone from the crowd yelled, “Hey Tom, what’s the secret to your success?”
Without missing a beat, he held up his spare pants and shouted, “Always be prepared—for holes in one!”
From that day on, Tom was known around the club not just as the guy who hit the shot of a lifetime—but also as the golfer who brought an extra pair of pants… and actually needed them.
